Annual Fire
Safety Event
October is off to a hot start!
CHWA partnered with Central Whidbey Island Fire & Rescue (CWIF&R) for our second annual Fire Safety Event this morning! The event was expanded for 2026 to feature a larger fire drill practice on the Coupeville Wharf, which garnered a larger audience as well.
Afterwards, the crowd gathered at Rec. Hall for a Q&A and conversation with Deputy Chief James Meek and company. While the crew is very personable, the subject is serious, and they all provided fantastic insight and solutions to consider in the unfortunate incident a fire should occur in your business or residence. Most importantly, they passed along vital information on how to be proactive and hopefully PREVENT the instance of needing to reach for that fire extinguisher!
We would like to thank CWIF&R for being such a great partner two years running! Also, to Sunshine Drip for providing snacks and beverages, and Lauren Flynn for capturing the event as you experienced it! (Check out her music!)

Walking Tours
Every Saturday (excluding October 17th), beginning September 12th - October 24th, 2026.
Tours begin at 11:00am, 1:00pm, & 3:00pm.
Step into the magic of Coupeville and explore the real-life locations featured in the beloved 1998 cult classic Practical Magic.
During this approximately one-hour walking tour, you’ll wander along historic Front Street and through the surrounding neighborhood while hearing behind-the-scenes stories about the filming of the movie. Tours will be led by local “witches,” Coupeville residents who have plenty of insider details to share when Hollywood came to town! -

Scavenger Hunt
An October-Long Scavenger Hunt!
Calling witches of all ages! Coupeville is overrun with magical frogs and we need your help to find them all. Grab a Witch Hunt passport at Kingfisher Bookstore and find the witchy frog at 33 local businesses.Head to the bookstore for more details!

We are also so grateful for this year’s 86 entries from 21 different countries ! All entries were so unique and beautiful pieces of art. Choosing one finalist was an extraordinarily difficult decision for both the CHWA Promotions Committee and the CHWA Board. We look forward to finding ways to help promote all of the participating artists in the near future as well!
